Why I invented Walkin'Bag?
My name is Etsuo Miyoshi, CEO of Swany Corp. I am the inventor of the Walkin'Bag®. People want to know why I invented Walkin'Bag? The answer is simple--it met a personal need.
As a polio survivor and busy businessman,
I have traveled the equivalent of 100 times around the world. All that walking, waiting, and moving around left me with sore legs and an aching back. I dreamed of having a bag I could "lean on".
A bag I could "lean on."
I took a chance in 1996 and created a prototype--a bag with the ability to "lean on". In 1998, when we first introduced Walkin'Bag in Japan, initial sales were low. It was a critical time for us, so we made a change. We began telling our story--MY story.
Everything changed. In 1999, customers caught on to the personal story behind Walkin'Bag and suddenly sales picked up dramatically. By 2008, our retail sales had reached $20 million. Then it was time to introduce our products to the United States.
