The Luggage with a Seat

Luggage frame with SeatTo maintain lean on benefit, the frame structure needed to be firm and strong.

And strong it was—strong enough for someone to sit on it!  That was an unexpected benefit!  Unbeknownst to me, using luggage as a seat would become one of the main functions of Walkin’Bag as well as a competitive edge.

When a large number of buyers started demanding a lighter weight product it produced another opportunity for improvement.  Since our users were taking the Walkin’Bag everywhere, even a single pound started to matter. So, in order to reduce the weight we had to revamp the product.  We didn’t want to give up the "sitting" benefit but something had to go.

The solution came when I separated the bag from the frame.  With a firm, plastic undercarriage and a wider handle structure, the bag could now provide double the benefits—it could have both a “retractable seat” and be light weight at the same time.
