Walking Stick / Cane
My first attempt at solving my mobility problem was to try a walking stick.
The stick took a little getting used to. Because the stick is made of a single shaft, it only landed on a narrow point. I noticed right away that the stick did not properly support my weight and that it was even dangerous if I didn’t land on the point directly.
Another thing I noticed was that I had to lean the walking stick up against something when I wasn’t using it or it would fall over. And when it did fall over? Then I would have to bend my poor knees to pick it up. This was such an inconvenience and, at times, even painful.
Once I tried to put a hand strap on my walking stick, but who wants a stick hanging on your sleeve while trying to eat at a restaurant? A walking stick just wasn’t the solution I was looking for so I stopped using it all together.
